Following top class performances by Fenerbahçe defender Egemen Korkmaz all Fenerbahçe fans expected to see the veteran 32-year old to be offered a context renewal; however, Fenerbahçe announced on their official website that they have handed Korkmaz a letter thanking him for his services for the team.
Fenerbahce.org posted an article confirming the departure of Egemen Korkmaz, Mert Gunok, Bekir Irtegun, Pierre Webo and Selcuk Sahin by thanking them for their services with the club and stating the Fenerbahçe general secretary Mahmut Uslu gave each one of the players a thank you letter.
Egemen joined Fenerbahçe three years ago and helped the team win the Turkish league, Turksih Cup and most notably scored Fenerbahçe's only goal in the 1-0 win against Benfica in the 2012-13 Europa League semifinals.
It is believed that Trabzonspor, Bursaspor, Besiktas and Galatasaray are all preparing offers for Korkmaz.
