Two Arrested in Bus Attack Investigation

The governor of Trabzon, Abdil Celil Oz, said the two suspects identified as Nihat S. and Emre A.;  aged 37 and 27 – were detained by Trabzon's police department on Tuesday. He said one of them is believed to have followed the convoy while the other fired shots at the bus.

It is beleived that Nevsat S., the brother of the suspect Nihat S. coordinated with the Turkish authorities by giving them information about suspicous work by his brother and his brother's friend Emre A who reportedly picked up Nihat S. in his minibus the night of the incident.


Additionally, a screenshot from the detained suspect Emre A.'s facebook account shows him speaking with a friend saying: "the driver did not deserve [this], he did no mistakes" (screenshot available at the bottom of the article).


Additionally, TFF president Yildirim Demiroren commented on the incident and said: “We believe the incident was a terrorist attack, targeting not only Fenerbahce but Turkish sports. We decided to postpone all league and cup games for a week."


 “We took this decision because we attach importance to the players’ psychology.”, Demiroren added.
