Fenerbahce entered the match with a much changed squad that saw several youth and sub players such as Kadlec, Diego, Uygar, Mert and Melih participate in the starting eleven lineup.
Fenerbahce opened the scoring through a rocket-shot volley by Mehmet Topuz only for Altinordu's Taha Balci to equalize the score just before half time.
In the second half Fenerbahce's captain Emre Belozoglu got a hamstring injury and was replaced by first team player Alper Potuk who directly changed the game's direction into Fenerbahce's favour and it was ultimately his cross that led to an own goal by Altinordu's defender Yusuf, that proved to be the decisive goal in this win.
Fenerbahce are now first in the group with 7 points, tied with second placed Kayserispor (FB has a +2 goal difference while Kayserispor have a +1 goal difference); Bayburtspor stands in third with four points while Alintrodu stands in fourth with four points as well (goal difference varies). Fenerbahce will next play Bayburtspor in the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium before travelling to the challenging Kayseri Kadir Has Stadium in the last round of the Turkish Cup grousptage.
