Fenerbahce defeated İstanbul Başakşehir 2-0 thanks to goals from Dirk Kuyt and Alper Potuk...
The Yellow Canaries started 2015 with a clean win as Dutch star Dirk Kuyt opened the scoring in the 20th minute and Alper Potuk doubled the lead in the 49th minute to give Fener a comfortable lead. Caner Erkin was undisputedly the man of the match tonight as he was well-disciplined in defence and assisted both of the match's goals.
Fenerbahce now move to the first spot and enjoy a two point lead over Besiktas with 36 points; however Besiktas still have a match to play and that is against Galatasaray on Sunday evening. If Besiktas lose or draw they will stay in second and only a win would give them the league lead back.
İstanbul Başakşehir had two former Fenerbahce players in Semih Senturk and Volkan Babacan.
