Gökhan Gönül leaves Fenerbahce after great 9 years.
The Fenerbahce captain joined the team on 18 July 2007 for a fee of €1.40m from Genclerbirligi, the rest is a history. Gökhan became the best right back ever to played for Fenerbahce. His struggle at the games he played for Fenerbahce was worth to see. I don't believe we could find a player like Gökhan to replace him, Şener is good but you stop when you hear Gökhan's name. He made 341 appereances for Fenerbahce, won the league 2 times and he tried to do his best at all of these games, without a doubt.

Yesterday, Fenerbahce released a statement to thank to Gökhan Gönül for his services that he has done for the club. Fenerbahce will not renegotiate with him which just made the fans got sad and mad. Gökhan Gönül rejected many offers from Spain and England to just stay at Fenerbahce but as it seems, the club didn't make enough efforts to keep him. Fenerbahce admin İlhan Ekşioğlu announced that the club failed to reach an agreement with Gökhan Gönül following a wage dispute.The 30 year old right back is a free agent right now. It shouldn't have been like this, you should do your best to keep one of your best players at the team. Also the club have financial fair play negotiation with UEFA, so we will not be able to spend money like a kid spending money on candies. It is not going to be easy to find a cheap player who is quality as Gökhan Gönül is. He says he didn't make any problems about the wage but a few days ago, chairman Aziz Yıldırım released a speech at press conference, he told that both Gökhan Gönül and Mehmet Topal want more money to stay at the club. What is going on? who to believe? I cannot believe Fenerbahce are in a situation like this, the biggest club in Turkey! I still don't understand why both sides couldn't have maden a deal. Also to Gökhan Gönül, if you are the captain of Fenerbahce, money should be on the second option for you. Am I wrong? This is how I think. Otherwise I do believe this is what Gökhan Gönül did. He is the guy who has respect from everybody in Turkey, even Galatasaray and Besiktas fans have huge respect for him. He always fights untill the end, this was the best part most of the fans will remember forever. Even the whole team played bad and got booed from the fans, Gökhan was the first guy to deserved to get clapped by fans. I had this moment by myself at the stadium. Imagine a player almost gave his life to save a goal! Yes, this is what Gökhan Gönül did in Europa League semi-final game against Braga in 2013, what a moment it was! I lost my mind, everybody just hoped he was well but it seemed like he was not. Thankfully he had more to see. Every game he played, he won Fenerbahce fans hearts for forever. It feels like saying goodbye to your first love. Thank you for everything you have done for the club, for the fans, for everybody. What a great character and player! complicated story.Rumours in Turkey say he
is close to sign for Besiktas,well I do not believe this would ever
happen. In my opinion,
we won't watch him playing in Turkish Super Lig,
his manager Ahmet Bulut is at England to have negotiations with some
English clubs.
