Fenerbahce Thrash Trabzon 4-0 Amid Fan Violence

Fenerbahce thrashed Trabonspor 4-0 in the Avni Aker Stadium in Trabzon amid fan violence...

Fenerbahce opened the scoring in the 23rd minute thanks to an Alper Potuk goal doubling the score in the 27th minute thanks to Volkan Sen. The second half saw a good start again as Nani scored Fenerbahce's third goal of the evening in the 57th minute. Robin van Persie scored a stunning free kick in the 61st minute to sink Trabzonspor in a match where they will completely outclassed.

However as Hasan Ali Kaldirim made his way to the corner flag in the 89th minute to take a corner a number of Trabzonspor fans expectedly started violence as they threw objects on the field with one particular fan storming the pitch and assaulting the referee.

Trabzonspor captain Onur Kivrak was also a victim of fan's violence as he was assaulted by another fan while trying to pull him away from the referee. Onur also cut a dissapointing figure as he took off his glove and jersey in the field before leaving the pitch.

Fenerbahce are expected to be awarded a 4-0 win for the suspended game.

Fenerbahce manager Vitor Pereira was the talk of the Turkish media tonight as footage emerged of him entering the field to ask Fenerbahce players to leave and he only went to the locker room once all the players entered. After the match he said: "This is not football.".

Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer also weighed in on the match and told the media: "The atmosphere was great until the very end... this is shameful.".

Fenerbahce's 11 for night were: Volkan (c), Gokhan, Kjaer, Alves, Hasan Ali, Topal (sub Ozan), Josef, Alper (sub Fernandao), Nani (sub Diego), Volkan Sen, Robin van Persie.

Fenerbahce now are second in the table with only 3 points behind Besiktas with four weeks to go. The Yellow Canaries take on Gaziantepspor next week in the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
