Super Lig Week 21 Preview: Fenerbahce x Kasimpasa

Fenerbahce host Kasimpasa tonight in the 21st round of the Super Lig...

Last Friday, Fenerbahçe suffered just their second defeat of the season, a 4-2 loss in Antalya. This meant that Beşiktaş could close the gap, and if they win their two games in hand, they will be 4 points ahead.

On Tuesday, Fenerbahçe met with Amedspor in the Turkish Cup Quarter-Finals. Fans were disappointed with the Antalya match and were hoping for a win. Pereira played a mixture of first-teamers and reserves and the game finished 3-3. Whilst it may sound exciting, the game was, in reality, a dull affair.
This means that going into the game with Kasımpaşa, the fans are desperate to see a win, and a better style of football with that.
Kasımpaşa are one of the stand out performers this season, currently sitting in 7th. They are currently on a bad run of form, having not won in their past four games, losing and drawing twice. Previous to this, they had won 4 of their last 7, drawing the remaining three. Their record against the big three has been good, losing only to Fenerbahçe in September and drawing with Beşiktaş and Galatasaray. Arguably their stand out performer this season has been Eren Derdiyok, who has scored 10 goals.
Fenerbahçe, who have not won in their last 2 games, will be wanting to do the double over Kasımpaşa, as their first match-up was won by Souza’s solitary goal. Including that match-up, Fenerbahçe have won the last 6 games between the sides, both home and away, meaning their confidence will be high for this match. Vitor Pereira must win this match, for both the championship and the fans. Prediction: 2-0.
