Player to arrive in Istanbul on Sunday, 5 July for negotiations and a medical exam.
Just hours after announcing the loan deals for two Porto players, Fenerbahçe announced on its official website that negotiations have begun with both Manchester United and Portuguese international Luís Nani.
Nani signed a five-year contract extension in 2013 but is now thought to be seen as surplus to requirements by head coach Louis van Gaal. Indeed, Nani had only made some thirty-five appearances for the Red Devils since 2012 before going on-loan to Sporting Lisbon.
Due to the fact that the twenty-eight-year-old does not feature in van Gaal's plans, Fenerbahçe may have opted to keep negotiating in an attempt to keep the transfer fee low. This is likely what has delayed the transfer as even the international press has been reporting on this deal for at least two weeks.
Football365 reports that Manchester United is trying get £5 million (€7M) as opposed to Fener's £3.5 million (€4.93M) offer. That being said, the fact that Nani is already slated to undergo a medical is perhaps an indication that Fener is confident the winger and his club will accept the offer.
