The Senegalese international striker scored in stoppage time through an outstanding assist from fellow striker Pierre Webo.
Although the match lacked in quality it sure was eventful, and negatively so. Early on in the 35th minute Fenerbahce's midfielder Raul Meireles was injured and had to be replaced by Moussa Sow, only minutes after Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike walked off the pitch in protest to the fans booing him.
Emenike was convinced by his teammates to re-enter the field which he did, only to be subbed of during halftime (for Webo) and was pictured leaving the stadium while the match was still on. Only 5 minutes into the second half Fenerbahce winger Dirk Kuyt also got injured and was replaced by Brazilian star Diego.
Fenerbahce started the match with Mehmet Topuz at the right-back who filled in the spot for the injured Gokhan Gonul; Topuz played a huge role both defensively and offensively for Fenerbahce and created a few dangerous chances for the Yellow Canaries in front of goal. Besiktas also had their fair share of injuries as they started the match without right-back Opare with their goalie Tolga Zengin subbed out during halftime due to injury as well.
Fenerbahce defenders Bruno Alves and Egemen Korkmaz and goalkeeper Volkan Demirel were up to par as usual saving numerous dangerous opportunities of Besiktas players. However Bruno Alves and Emre Belozoglu got into an agrument with Besiktas coach Slaven Bilic and Emre was seen cursing in English towards the Croatian coach.
Just moments before the final whistle Pierre Webo provided Sow with a perfectly paced lob which saw Sow convert his chance into a goal off the volley to put Fenerbahce in the lead and back in the title race. This is Sow's eighth goal in seven matches against Besiktas.
Fenerbahce are now third in the league with 53 points, a point behind second placed Besiktas and two points behind first placed Galatasaray. Full league standings available here.
