Fenerbahce started the match playing in an attacking manner but were failed to score in the first half, where they were also denied a clear penalty when one of Erciyesspor's defenders pushed Moussa Sow in the air.

During the second half Fenerbahce's coach Ismail Kartal changed to a more attacking 3-5-1-1 formation that showed its effectiveness when Emre Belozoglu put his name on the scoresheet from a penalty in the 86th minute.

Fenerbahce's defence also looked quite solid with the return of the now fit Egemen Korkmaz; who played his first full 90 minutes after he recovered from his injury.
