Roma took the lead through a Francesco Totti penalty early in the first half however three goals from Bruno Alves, Dirk Kuyt (penalty) and Moussa Sow put Fenerbahce in a comfortable lead.
However late in the second half and following Selcuk Sahin's entry to the field off the bench Roma were able to equalize the score to make it 3-3 thanks to two goals from youngster Mattia Destro.
