The Yellow Canaries were banned two years from European competition in August 2013 by UEFA and when Fenerbahce appealed to the CAS (Court of Arbitration of Sports) the Sports court situated in Switzerland stood by UEFA's decision and only reduced an optional third year of the ban (the ban was 2+1, the CAS turned it to a 2 year ban).
However the Turkish champions now have decided to appeal to the CAS' decision at the highest court in Switzerland, the Swiss Federal Court, in hope of taking back their European spot and getting a direct qualification to the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Fenerbahce already served one year from the two year ban so in case the Swiss Federal Court rules in favor of Fenerbahce, the Yellow Canaries will be entering the UEFA Champions League this year.
