Galatasaray Defeats Fenerbahce 1-0

Galatasaray defeated Fenerbahce 1-0 thanks to a Wesley Sneijder goal...

The Dutch international opened the scoring early in the 9th minute in match that was highlighted by controversy, aggressiveness and refereeing inadequateness from referee Bulent Yildirim who gave a total of 17 yellow and 2 red bookings the match.

Fenerbahce's Emre Belozoglu received a controversial red card which saw Galatasaray's "pitbull" Felipe Melo react gaudily (as expected); ironically Melo was later sent off as well.

Following the match Dirk Kuyt congratulated Galatasaray saying: "Congrats to them, they now lowered the gap between us from 13 to 10 points."
