Match-Day 27: Fenerbahce vs Bursaspor

Fenerbahce are set to kick-off the 27th league fixture against Bursaspor tonight at the Sukru Saracoglu; where the Yellow and Blue Canaries will be looking to pile on the pressure ahead of the derby game next week against Galatasaray...

Preview:

After last weeks impressive 3-0 victory over Gaziantep, Fenerbahce will be looking to further continue there great form of four straight league wins into five. This will be the 124th meeting between the two sides, Fenerbahce have won on 62 occasions, Bursa 24 and 35 games have ended in a draw. Fenerbahce have netted 204 goals whereas Bursa have only scored 114. Fener are also unbeaten against Bursaspor in the last 9 games.

Bursaspor's finest hour came in the 2009-10 season when they won the Super Lig for their first time in History. However this season they have failed to make any impact on the League title and sit currently in 12th position, hence the reason ex-Fenerbahce manager Christoph Daum was replaced last week with Assistant Coach; Ifran Buz. Despite this they are still a team not to be messed with and after the 2-2 draw with Galatasaray in the Turkish Cup; they must not be underestimated. Fenerbahce's new manager Ersun Yanal has adapted a new style of play which has seen much more attractive football compared to previous seasons, and also led to all of Fenerbahce's forwards freely finding the back of the net this season; Emenike (11), Sow 10), Kuyt (9) and Webo (7).

Fenerbahce will need to play a very cautious game tonight with Emenike, Dirk Kuyt, Mehmet Topal, Egemen and Gokhan Gonul all at risk of missing the crucial derby game against Galatasaray; due to numerous yellow cards.

Fenerbahce will also be without many star players tonight through injury and suspension;
Emre Belozoglu - Disrupted Calf Muscle
Cristian Baroni - Groin Strain
Volkan Demirel - Hip Problems
Caner Erkin - Suspension

The last time Fenerbahce faced Bursaspor this season; the game ended in a very dramatic 3-2 win at the Bursa Ataturk Stadium, with Egemen Korkmaz scoring one of many late winning goals this season. Pierre Webo and Emenike also got on the score-sheet from two Caner Erkin corners.
